PLAN OF SALVATION
Bible Verses About God
1 John 1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
Bible Verses About Us and Our Condition
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death...
Colossians 1:21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.
Revelation 20: 12-15
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books...15 If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
God is Holy...and We're Not
Because of our sinfulness, we have become alienated or separated from God. If a person dies in this state they will remain separated from God for eternity in hell - which is the second death (called the second death, because our physical death is the first).
Hell is eternal. It's a real place of everlasting destruction; it possesses a lake of fire, and those whose names are not found written in the "Book of Life" will be sent there.
What Can We Do About This?
Some try to be good or do good hoping that their behavior and deeds will cover up their sin. However:
Isaiah 64:6 says, All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf; and like the wind our sins sweep us away.
That means:
We can never be good enough.
We can never do enough good.
But, the Real
Good News is this...
We don't have to. Why?
Bible Verses about God's Love
John 3:16-17
16...For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 5:8
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Bible Versus About Jesus Christ's Voluntary Death for Our Sins So We Can Be Saved
Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 2: 4-9
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
2 Corinthians 5:21
21 God made him who had not sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
What's Changed?
Earlier we were reading words about us, like: alienated, enemies, separation, punishment, everlasting destruction, death, fire, hell.
Now we've read words like: Jesus Christ, God's love, gift, eternal life, mercy, grace, alive, kindness, righteousness of God.
What's Different?
Because of God's great love for the world (that includes us) and because of His mercy (not wanting anyone to perish in hell) God graciously and lovingly gave us Jesus Christ, His Son, who willingly took our sin upon Himself and suffered and died in our place on the cross and rose from the dead, so we might become righteous in God's eyes and receive the gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What Now?
Like an Gift we have to receive it, open it, and make it our own. The Gift of Forgiveness of Sins, Salvation and Eternal Life is there for us, because Jesus Christ purchased it with His blood on the cross. Yet, a person won't get to enjoy these and many other wonderful things like: God's love, mercy, and grace unless they receive God's Gift of Salvation, open it up and make it their own. How is that done?
This is how, these are the steps to take: Hearing, Believing, Repenting, Confessing Jesus is Lord, Being Baptized, and Living the Christian Life.
